Glass Act
Her composition ‘My Flutter-by Platter’ was showcased on ITV’s 60 Minute Makeover interior design programme.
Her work ‘Icons of Malaria’ featured at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
And, she says, “My aim is to seduce, surprise and occasionally provoke”.
Fair enough, the P&B Showcase is duly seduced.
Screen-printing, painting, etching, sandblasting, slumping and fusing, Georgina Griffiths works magic with colourful and contemporary glasswork, always creating each piece by hand.
She studied ‘Glass in Fine Art and Architecture’ at Central St Martin’s and is now based at Cockpit Art Studios in Deptford and her glass vessels, glass jewellery and multi-layered wall displays/light boxes draw on such diverse subjects as household insects, microscopic bacteria and discarded objects – ‘urban detritus’, to be posh!
She also creates large-scale architectural glass for the built environment and is currently working on a substantial public art commission for an office building in Westminster, due for installation in late 2009.
And what else does she foresee in her crystal ball?
“I’m particularly interested in more large-scale work – light boxes, installations, exhibitions and so on, especially scientific collaborations because visualising cellular structures and other organisms using glass techniques can create such impactful and, at the same time, informative, educational effects”.
We look forward to more bugs and bits of anatomy all in magnificent colour!

Deptford, SE8 3DZHannah Bedford designs and makes exquisite women’s jewellery - from bespoke neckpieces through to delicate earrings and rings. Her signature style of intricate fine gold and silver clusters creep over surfaces, appearing to grow and entwine her work to create delicate, desirable and wearable jewellery. The traditional processes of granulation, reticulation and Keum-boo (fine gold fusing) employed by Hannah inspire her collections.
Based at her Cockpit Arts studio in Deptford, in the hub of South London’s creative community, Hannah handcrafts fine jewellery in silver and gold. Since graduating from Birmingham School of Jewellery with a first class honours degree in 2004, she was selected for the Bishopsland Educational Trust and the South Hill Park Arts Centre residencies. Her jewellery is exhibited nationally and she has been represented at Collect (the international art fair for contemporary objects) at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Deptford, SE8 3DZThe collection is inspired by the 'make do and mend spirit'; re-cycle, re-vamp and reconstruct, the look is utilitarian glamour. And both romantic and functional as the dresses screw into a tiny bag to travel. Little’s designs are also sold at the V&A Shop as well as the designer’s own 'Pop-Up Shop' in Greenwich, College Approach SE10.
